The Founding Members of the 1918 Botanical Society
Based on a photograph I found at an antique store- it was not dated and did not have any evidence as to when/ where it was photographed. I am guessing it was around 1918 based on what the women were wearing.
I was so captivated by the pose by these three ladies, they seem to be mid-discussion and caught off guard by the photographer. In era where photography mainly seemed to be secluded to a studio, the candidness of this picture really grabbed me.
Again, I don’t know anything about the original photograph, but I really loved how we are the viewer seemed to catch them in an intimate discussion. What were they talking about? I imagined these ladies are forming the Botanical Society. They collect interesting flora on their excursions and catalog them.
We are witnessing the initial moments of the founding.
